generation loss: elizabeth hand

2007

Our past returns to the present in this punk rock and photography thriller by novelist Elizabeth Hand.

Published by Small Beer Press, Generation Loss features a washed up punk photographer who gets a chance to revitalize her career by interviewing a famous photographer who lives on a remote island off the coast of Maine. The cover design alludes to the heavy and unsettling nature of the plot and narrative delivery: depression, addiction, murder, the haze of memory, as well as the “generation loss,” or loss of image fidelity through successive copying.
