129 Meters (named after the tape length of a 90 minute audiocassette), was a short-lived, invite-only "mix-tape" club. Conceived during the rise of music-streaming platforms and the prevalence of mp3s, 129 Meters hearkened back to the days before digital file sharing. Members had to create a physical mix to share with their randomly-selected recipient - cassette tape, CD, thumb drive, custom-made LP, Edison wax cylinder - as long as you could hold it, it counted. Each "round" (and there were ultimately only three), featured a specific theme that individuals had to incorporate into their song selection and potentially their packaging. The final mix had to be mailed by the postal service to the recipient. At the end of each round, members would post about their work on a shared blog, the remnants of which are here:
