Generation Loss

Small Beer Press asked me to design the cover for Elizabeth Hand’s thriller Generation Loss. The book centers around a washed up punk photographer who gets a chance to revitalize her career by interviewing a famous photographer who lives in some weird island off of Maine. I tried to incorporate into the cover design the heavy and unsettling nature of the plot and delivery: depression, addiction, murder, the haze of memory, as well as the “generation loss,” or loss of image fidelity through successive copying.
