Gavin and Kelly of Small Beer Press asked me to design a cover for the The Best of Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet, published by Del Rey / Random House, 2007. Their Lady Churchill’s zine has always been a curious beast, and they were interested in a cover that would feel in-line with “unexpected tales of the fantastic” that they published. I tried two other radically different directions before hitting on the below.
